Enfield man arrested after road rage shooting incident

ENFIELD — Police arrested a 44-year-old man following a road rage incident where a shot was fired on Freshwater Blvd. late Wednesday night.

The Enfield Police Department received a call at 11:54 p.m. reporting the incident.

There were no injuries reported.

Following a “high risk” motor vehicle stop on Ganny Terrace, Peter Smario Ill of 50 Belle Avenue was placed under arrest.

Smario faces multiple charges including Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault 1st 53a-49/53a-59, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm 53-203, Violation of a Restraining Order 53a-223b (2-Counts), Possession of a Firearm without a Permit 29-35(a)(1), Criminal Possession of a Firearm 53a-217, Criminal Mischief 15 53a-115, Threatening 1st 53a-61aa, and Weapons in a Motor Vehicle 29-38.

Smario is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at GA-14 on Friday morning.
