WESTPORT — A local man faces charges of possessing child pornography following an investigation prompted by a cybertip, police said Thursday.
Brian Myers of Westport was arrested June 28 after admitting to possessing child pornography and turning over electronic devices containing illicit images, according to the Westport Police Department.
The investigation began June 26 when police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspicious search history on a shared computer.
The tipster identified Myers as the person allegedly responsible.
Detectives visited Myers at his home June 28 to question him about the allegations.
Police said Myers admitted to possessing child pornography and provided his cell phone and laptop, which were found to contain suspected illegal images.
Myers was charged with third-degree possession of child pornography and held on $30,000 bond.
He has since posted bond and was released with a court date of July 5 at Stamford Superior Court.
