Man cited for violating abuse prevention order in Richmond

RICHMOND — Vermont State Police cited a Westford man for allegedly violating an abuse prevention order following a domestic disturbance in Richmond on Sunday.

Matthew Hinton, 40, was issued a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division, to answer the charge of violating a relief from abuse order.

Troopers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Esplanade Street in Richmond at approximately 6:12 p.m. on June 30.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with several involved parties but were unable to locate the suspect at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that Hinton had allegedly violated the existing abuse prevention order.

He was later located by authorities and issued the citation.

The Vermont State Police did not provide additional details about the nature of the violation or the circumstances surrounding the initial domestic disturbance report.
