Washington man charged with aggravated domestic assault, interference with emergency services

WASHINGTON — Vermont State Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on VT Rt 110 in Washington.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered that Richard Haldane, 35, of Washington, had allegedly assaulted an intimate partner and interfered with their ability to access emergency services.

Haldane was arrested and taken to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

Following the investigation, he was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court on July 1 at 12:30 p.m. to face charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and interference with access to emergency services.

In accordance with their policy, the Vermont State Police did not release the name of the victim, who is protected under privacy laws for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The case remains under investigation as the court appearance approaches.
