Glenburn man killed after retaining wall colapses

BROWNVILLE — A retaining wall collapse claimed the life of a Glenburn man on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 2:45 p.m., local emergency services were called to the scene of the accident where a retaining wall had collapsed onto 67-year-old Stephen Lane while he was working on it.

Responding to the call were units from the Brownville Fire Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Service, and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office.

Despite the efforts of emergency medical services to resuscitate Lane, he was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained from the collapse.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident in collaboration with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to determine the cause of the collapse.

Assistance at the scene was also provided by the Milo Fire Department and Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department.
