FAIRFAX — In the early hours of June 26, the Vermont State Police were alerted to a bank alarm at the Union Bank on Ramsey Road, leading to the discovery of an attempted ATM theft involving stolen heavy machinery.
Upon arrival at approximately 3:03 a.m., troopers found the bank’s outdoor ATM had been forcefully dislodged.
A short distance away on VT RT 128, they located both the ATM and a front-end loader from the Fairfax Town Highway Department.
Further investigation revealed that a white pickup truck had also been taken from the town garage alongside the loader in preparation for the crime.
The white pickup was later found unscathed on Swamp Road near Wilkins Brook.
Although the vehicles were recovered without damage, the bank’s ATM and exterior suffered considerable harm during the incident.
Authorities are currently seeking assistance from the community to identify the suspects responsible for the theft and damage.
