MIDDLEBURY — Police cited a Rutland City man for driving with a criminally suspended license and failing to have a required ignition interlock device on June 25.

At approximately 10:05 p.m., Vermont State Police stopped a vehicle on Case Street near Lindale Circle after noting a traffic violation.

The driver, identified as 29-year-old Jordan S. Atwood, was found to have a suspended driver’s license.

During the stop, officers also discovered that Atwood’s vehicle was supposed to be equipped with an ignition interlock device, which was not installed.

Such devices are often mandated for individuals with previous offenses related to impaired driving to prevent the vehicle from starting if the driver’s breath alcohol concentration exceeds a preset limit.

Atwood was issued a citation and released.

He is scheduled to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Sept. 9 to respond to the charges.
