Protesters arrested at Travelers Championship golf tournament

CROMWELL — Six individuals were arrested Sunday for disrupting the Travelers Championship golf tournament by charging onto the 18th green, according to Cromwell police.

The protesters, ranging in age from 24 to 55, were each charged with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass and breach of peace, police said.

Those arrested were:

– Sayak Mukhopadhyay, 51, of White Plains, N.Y.
– William Regan, 45, of Washington, D.C.
– Jeffrey Marsar, 30, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
– Lydia Wooley, 24, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
– Mark Graham, 55, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
– Emily Smith, 34, of Maryland, N.Y.

All six were released on $5,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on July 1, 2024.

Police did not disclose the reason for the protest, stating they did not want to give additional attention to the cause.

The incident occurred during the final round of the PGA Tour event at TPC River Highlands.
