MERRIMACK — A hostage situation in Merrimack ended with the suspect’s death from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on Saturday, police said.
At 1:50 p.m. on June 22, Merrimack Police received a 911 call from a resident on Cabot Road reporting they were being held at gunpoint by a household member.
Officers responded and quickly rescued the caller, who was unharmed.
The suspect then barricaded themselves inside the house, prompting a response from multiple law enforcement agencies and the Southern NH Special Operations Unit.
After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the suspect, officers entered the residence and found the individual deceased.
The Merrimack Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating the incident.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
