TRUMBULL — Three juvenile males from Bridgeport were arrested Saturday after allegedly stealing from parked vehicles and fleeing police in a stolen car.
Trumbull police received multiple calls around 6 a.m. of masked juveniles in a blue Mazda CX-5 breaking into vehicles in the upper Main Street area.
Officers located the vehicle on Tanglewood Road, where it drove off the roadway to elude police.
The suspect vehicle struck a responding police car while fleeing but caused no injuries.
It eventually hit a fire hydrant on Jamestown Road, where a 17-year-old passenger fled on foot before being apprehended.
The Mazda continued driving south on Main Street before becoming disabled on Birdsall Avenue.
The 15-year-old driver was quickly caught after fleeing on foot.
Another 15-year-old remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody.
Police recovered a stolen knife and other items taken from numerous vehicles.
The Mazda was confirmed stolen from Bridgeport.
All three teens were charged with multiple counts of burglary and larceny.
The driver faces additional charges including engaging police in pursuit and reckless driving.
They were released to their mothers and are due in Bridgeport Juvenile Court on June 24, 2024.
