Two elderly drivers involved in crash near Green Mountain Mall

ST. JOHNSBURY — Two elderly drivers were involved in a motor vehicle crash on Memorial Drive near the Green Mountain Mall on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:31 a.m., Vermont State Police from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the collision.

Dennis Langmaid, 76, of Lyndon, was driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue northbound when he struck a 2019 Ram 1500 operated by Cecil Metcalf, 82, of Cabot, who was turning south onto Memorial Drive from the mall’s parking lot.

Metcalf sustained minor injuries and was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH).

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and the weather was clear with dry road conditions.

The front ends of both vehicles incurred contact damage.

The St. Johnsbury Fire Department and Calex Ambulance provided assistance at the scene.

The Vermont State Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
