BARNET — Members of the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department discovered a body in the Connecticut River near Monroe before 10 a.m. Tuesday, believed to be that of 37-year-old Gerard Poulin from Barnet.
Preliminary identification suggests the body is Poulin, who had been the subject of a search since June 5.
The body was transported to the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord for an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of death, along with confirming the identity.
Vermont State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Poulin’s death.
Authorities have not disclosed how Poulin ended up in the river or the events leading to his disappearance.
