SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Department officers apprehended a man on an active warrant in a local parking lot late Thursday night.
Nathan Heist was taken into custody at approximately 11:12 p.m. on June 15 after Officer Guzzo, while on patrol in a marked police cruiser, spotted him in the Springfield Coop Parking Lot.
Guzzo, who was aware of the warrant for Heist’s arrest, made the arrest without incident.
Heist was transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing.
Following the arrest, he was issued a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit on June 17 at 12:30 p.m.
According to the press release, Heist was then taken to the Southern State Correctional Facility.
He is being held in lieu of $500.00 cash or surety bail.
The police department clarified that decisions regarding bail and incarceration are the purview of the Judicial System, which includes Judges, Court Clerks, and the State Attorney’s Office, not the police.
