BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers from District B-3 successfully recovered two stolen moped scooters and arrested an armed robbery suspect on Sunday night near Franklin Park in Dorchester.
At approximately 8:42 p.m. on June 17, officers responded to a report of an armed person near the American Legion Hwy. side of the park.
Upon arrival, they were approached by two victims who reported being robbed at gunpoint by a group of five to six males.
The suspects allegedly took the victims’ mopeds and other personal belongings, including a wallet and a gold chain.
The victims told police that one of the robbers had brandished a firearm from a fanny pack.
They complied with the demands out of fear for their safety and subsequently tracked one of the stolen scooters using an Apple Air Tag to 14 Richfield St. in Dorchester.
Officers from Districts B-3 and B-2 located the mopeds and a group of males fitting the description at the provided address.
Although a firearm was not found, police identified 39-year-old Roberto Santiago of Dorchester as the armed robbery suspect.
The mopeds and a helmet were returned to the victims.
Santiago is expected to face an arraignment in West Roxbury District Court on armed robbery charges.
In a related arrest, 37-year-old Edvict Pimentel of Dorchester was taken into custody for two outstanding warrants.
Pimentel is also expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of distribution of Class B drugs and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
