With the assistance of Newport Police Department officers, one subject was quickly apprehended without incident. Throughout the afternoon, law enforcement officers searched the area, and by approximately 4:30 p.m., all remaining subjects had been taken into custody without incident.

A significant law enforcement presence was visible in the area, and a road closure was in effect for most of the afternoon. Loud bangs heard by members of the public were attributed to nonlethal devices deployed by troopers, and no shots were fired during the incident.

Authorities believe the incident is isolated to the parties involved, and all subjects are believed to be accounted for. The investigation into the incident continues into the evening, with additional details, including charges to be filed, expected to be released as they become available.

The Vermont State Police are urging anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Derby Barracks. As the investigation progresses, law enforcement officials are working to determine the circumstances that led to the dispute and ensure the safety of the community.
