Westborough high school sign theft attempt foiled by alert citizen

WESTBOROUGH — The Westborough Police Department is investigating an attempted theft that occurred early this morning at Westborough High School.

Around 4:30 a.m., individuals attempted to steal the high school’s sign.

The suspects were unsuccessful in their efforts to remove the sign permanently and left it behind on John Street after being scared off by a noise reported by a witness.

Police responded swiftly to the witness’s alert and discovered the damaged sign.

Investigators are now seeking information regarding a truck seen in the high school parking lot before the incident.
