Worcester police investigate downtown shooting, one hospitalized

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department detectives are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the downtown area near the bus hub on June 12 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

According to officials, Worcester Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation report and upon arriving at the scene, they were greeted by a large crowd and a chaotic situation.

Officers were quickly directed to a male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds.

First responders provided medical aid to the injured man at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

The area was secured as officers canvassed for evidence and witnesses.

Detectives have since taken over the scene to conduct a more thorough investigation into the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
