LYNDONVILLE — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man on charges of identity theft and other violations, the Lyndonville Police Department reported.
During the stop on New Boston Road at approximately 10:36 a.m. on June 13, Benjamin Heath of St. Johnsbury allegedly attempted to impersonate another individual by providing false verbal identification and presenting a photo ID not belonging to him.
Heath was charged with identity theft, providing false information to a police officer, and driving with a criminally suspended license.
A passenger in the vehicle, Brooke Hornbeck-Fielder, 30, from Berlin, was also cited for accessory to a felony and providing false information to a police officer.
The victim, identified as 41-year-old Michael Greene of Lyndon, was not present during the incident.
Following processing, Heath was cited to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on July 22 at 8:30 a.m. Hornbeck-Fielder was cited at the scene and is also scheduled to appear in court on the same date and time.
