NAUGATUCK — A New York man was arrested on June 1 after refusing to leave the Crystal Room banquet hall and resisting police efforts to detain him, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.
William McDaniel, 48, of Millerton, N.Y., was charged with breach of peace in the 2nd degree and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. at the Crystal Room on School Street, where police responded to a complaint about McDaniel’s refusal to leave the premises.
Upon arrival, officers found McDaniel with a facial injury, but he declined medical treatment.
Crystal Room staff reported that McDaniel had been asked to leave due to his behavior and level of intoxication.
Initially, police attempted to assist McDaniel in finding a ride home.
However, he became irate and uncooperative, leading to his arrest.
McDaniel resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody.
He was held on a $5,000 surety bond and arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court on June 3.
