BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 20-year-old man on firearm charges following a traffic stop in Hyde Park.

At about 8:15 p.m., on June 11, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force stopped a vehicle on 488 Cummins Highway during an ongoing firearm investigation.

Officers observed the vehicle with four unrestrained passengers and a non-functioning license plate light.

Upon initiating the stop, the driver was unable to provide a driver’s license.

Officers noted a partially empty bottle of tequila in the vehicle and that only one passenger was of legal drinking age.

A pat frisk led to the discovery of a Glock 19 with a laser sight, one round in the chamber, and thirty-two rounds in the magazine.

The firearm was confirmed stolen from Maine.

Savon Barbosa, of Boston, faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and a large capacity feeding device, as well as receiving stolen property.

His arraignment is set in West Roxbury District Court.
