Cambridge police investigate reported sexual assault in Central Square

CAMBRIDGE — Cambridge Police Department is actively investigating a sexual assault reported to have occurred in the early hours of June 11.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, informed officers that the incident took place around 12:20 a.m. on the 200 block of Franklin Street.

According to the victim’s account, they were engaged in conversation with three individuals when they suddenly lost memory of the events that followed.

The victim later awoke in a Central Square parking lot and realized they had been assaulted.

Emergency services were contacted, and the victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Cambridge Police urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Unit.

In response to the incident, the Cambridge Police Department has increased patrols in the area to enhance community safety.

The department also reminds residents to remain vigilant and to dial 911 immediately if they feel threatened or witness any suspicious activities.
