Scituate man arrested for lewd act at Wompatuck State Park

HINGHAM — A Scituate man was arrested Monday after allegedly exposing himself and performing a lewd act in Wompatuck State Park, according to the Hingham Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the park’s parking lot near the Visitor’s Center at 10:40 a.m. after receiving a report from a woman who claimed she saw a man beside his truck with his pants down, engaging in the act while looking at children on a nearby playground.

The suspect, identified as Alan Scott Bonney, 64, of 25 Hornbeam Rd., Scituate, was spotted driving his silver Chevrolet pickup truck further into the park and was apprehended by Hingham officers.

His vehicle was subsequently towed.

Bonney faces charges of open and gross lewdness and disturbing the peace.

Following his arrest, he was booked at the Hingham Police station and was scheduled for arraignment at Hingham District Court the same day.

The Massachusetts Environmental Police provided assistance to the Hingham officers involved in the incident.
