MILTON — In a joint statement released Wednesday, the Milton Town School District and Milton Police Department reported an incident of vandalism at Milton High School, where a student art installation was defaced over the weekend.
The vandalized artwork, which included the Black Lives Matter message and the MHS HIVE symbol, was discovered on Tuesday, June 11.
“We are deeply saddened that any individual would harm our learning community in this way,” said Principals Blake and Stinson in the statement.
Superintendent Rex expressed disappointment over the disrespect shown to student voices and creativity, and voiced appreciation for the police’s efforts to find those responsible.
The vandalism is believed to have taken place between 8 p.m. on June 8 and 3 a.m. on June 9.
Security footage has identified two individuals potentially involved in the incident, although the quality of the images is not optimal.
Authorities urge anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity near the school during the specified time frame to contact the Milton Police Department at 802-893-2424.
The collaborative statement underscores the importance of community cooperation in resolving this act of vandalism and preventing future occurrences.
