DOUGLAS — At approximately 6 a.m. today, Douglas Police Department officers executed a search warrant at a residence on 24 Makowski Drive, uncovering a large-scale marijuana cultivation and processing operation.

Upon entry, officers discovered roughly 185 marijuana plants at various growth stages and over 100 pounds of packaged marijuana ready for sale.

The operation extended beyond cultivation, as authorities also found a sophisticated laboratory set up for extracting THC oils.

The site contained a significant quantity of hazardous materials, including commercial-grade butane, ethanol, and other chemicals used in the extraction process.

Due to the potential risks associated with these substances, fire officials and hazardous materials specialists were called to the scene.

The street value of the seized drugs, including marijuana, THC oils, and edibles, is estimated to exceed $400,000.

The Douglas Police and Fire Departments coordinated with multiple agencies for this operation, including the State Police Detective Unit from the Worcester District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team, MSP Chemists, MSP Bomb Squad, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Department of Fire Services, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

As the investigation continues, authorities have announced that criminal charges are forthcoming.

No arrests have been reported at this time.
