NORTH ADAMS — North Adams police, in a series of operations last week, arrested multiple individuals on drug trafficking and possession charges following a vehicle stop and a house raid involving local and county law enforcement.
During a motor vehicle stop, Officer Cogswell and K9 partner Rocky detected narcotics, which led to the discovery of a significant quantity of drugs.
The occupants of the vehicle were found in possession of about 800 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl and 8.3 grams of loose suspected heroin/fentanyl, totaling 24.3 grams.
Authorities also seized roughly 23.3 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine, $830 in cash, a digital scale, and packaging materials.
The two individuals in the vehicle were arrested and face trafficking charges for both heroin/fentanyl and cocaine, as well as a conspiracy charge under Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 94C, Sections 32E and 40.
In a related operation, members of the North Adams Police Department, the Berkshire County Drug Task Force, and the Berkshire County Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a local residence.
The raid resulted in the seizure of approximately 375 bags of suspected heroin, totaling 7.5 grams, and about 1.7 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine.
Additional items confiscated included digital scales and packing materials.
Three people were arrested at the residence on charges of possession with intent to distribute Class A (heroin) and Class B (cocaine) substances, and conspiracy.
One individual also faced a charge of possession of ammunition without a Firearms Identification Card (FID) under M.G.L. Chapter 269 Section 10.
The arrests and seizures are part of an ongoing effort by North Adams Police Department to combat narcotics trafficking in the region.
The suspects are currently facing charges in Massachusetts state court, and the investigations are ongoing.
