MANCHESTER — Wayne Haggie of Manchester has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to charges of sexual assault involving minors.
The Hillsborough County Superior Court – Northern District handed down the sentence following Haggie’s admission to two counts of Pattern Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault, one count of Felonious Sexual Assault, one count of Computer Services Prohibited, and one count of Prostitution.
The charges stem from incidents where Haggie engaged in sexual penetration with children under 13, committed a sexual act with a child under 16, and used a computer to entice a child for sexual purposes.
Judge N. William Delker presided over the case, allowing a potential suspension of 5 years from the minimum sentence if Haggie completes required treatment while in custody at the New Hampshire State Prison.
The investigation, led by the Manchester Police Department, began when a victim reported being sexually abused by Haggie.
A subsequent victim’s testimony and the acquisition of search warrants for Haggie’s electronic devices and social media accounts unveiled additional evidence, including solicitations of a third child for sexual activity.
The prosecution team, Alexander G. Gatzoulis and Justin Shepherd of the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Special Victims Unit, with support from Victim/Witness Advocate Katrina Griffin, successfully collaborated with the Manchester Police Department’s Juvenile and Cybercrime Units to secure the plea.
County Attorney John J. Coughlin praised the concerted effort to protect children from exploitation. “This prosecution is an example once again of the exemplary work of the attorneys of the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Special Victims Unit in coordination with our law enforcement partners,” Coughlin stated.
Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg also expressed his department’s resolve to combat child exploitation.
“Let this conviction and lengthy sentence be a strong message to all child predators,” Aldenberg said, emphasizing the city’s commitment to safeguarding children and pursuing justice for such egregious offenses.
