NEW HAVEN — A large tree fell onto a house in New Haven late Sunday night, prompting authorities to close off the area surrounding Button Street and Lamberton.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when a tree unexpectedly toppled over, bringing down power lines with it and causing significant damage to a home on Button Street.
The New Haven Fire Department (NHFD) and the New Haven Police Department (NHPD) quickly arrived on the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of residents.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid the area as crews work to clear the debris and repair the downed wires.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries, but emergency services remain at the scene to conduct a thorough check and to secure the premises.
The cause of the tree’s collapse is still under investigation.
