PROVIDENCE — A series of traffic stops by Rhode Island State Police led to multiple arrests on Thursday for offenses including forgery, drug possession, and driving on a suspended license.
At 1:15 p.m., Troopers apprehended Miguel Velasquez, 47, of 513 Douglas Avenue, during a vehicle stop on Admiral Street.
Velasquez faced a Providence Superior Court bench warrant for failing to appear for sentencing on a technical violation related to an original charge of violating a protection order.
Additionally, he was charged with forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates.
Following the arrest, Velasquez was processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and then transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.
Later in the evening, at 9:28 p.m., Sean Lepkham, 21, of 46 Grosvenor Avenue, was arrested on Montgomery Street for possessing more than two ounces of marijuana.
Lepkham was detained at Lincoln Woods Barracks and held overnight as a bail and probation violator, with an arraignment set for the following morning at Sixth Division District Court.
At 10:35 p.m., Matthew Webster, 41, of 16 Raphael Avenue, Apartment #1, was taken into custody on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence for driving on a suspended license under special circumstances.
Webster was processed and held overnight at Lincoln Woods Barracks as a probation violator, pending his arraignment.
The final arrest of the night occurred at 11:51 p.m. when Joseph Butler, 38, of 9 Geneva Street, was stopped on Route 6 and charged with forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates.
Butler was processed and held as a bail violator, awaiting his morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court.
