DERRY — A motor vehicle rollover on Interstate 93 northbound around Mile Marker 5.5 resulted in one fatality Tuesday morning, according to the Derry Fire Department.
Just before 10 a.m., multiple calls reported the incident which prompted a response from Windham and Salem fire departments, as well as Air Medical services.
Boston Med Flight was initially requested with an estimated flight time of 18 minutes.
Upon arrival, Windham C-1, led by Fire Chief Thomas McPherson Jr., took command of the scene where a mid-sized SUV was found in the high-speed lane with significant damage.
One male was discovered on the highway with severe injuries and was later confirmed deceased at the scene.
Emergency crews, including Windham Medic-2 and Engine-2, immediately attended to the scene, while Windham C-2 and C-3, along with the Salem Fire Department’s Rescue and Tower Ladder Unit, provided additional support and traffic control.
Windham Police, New Hampshire State Police, and NH DOT also assisted with lane closures.
Witnesses indicated the vehicle had been traveling southbound before veering into the median and rolling several times into the northbound lane.
All northbound lanes except one were closed for approximately two hours, causing significant traffic delays beyond Exit 1.
The New Hampshire State Police conducted an investigation and worked to clear the accident site, with NH DOT assisting in traffic management until the vehicle was removed.
