ALFRED — A vehicle collision with a utility pole caused a power outage in Alfred and along the Route 111 corridor yesterday afternoon, officials said.

The York County Sheriff’s Office reported that a Chevy Trail Blazer, driven by Douglas Goulet, 51, of Dayton, crashed into a telephone pole in front of the Alfred Country Store.

The impact snapped the pole, leaving multiple wires and a transformer, which regulates local electrical distribution, hanging precariously over the roadway.

Utility crews worked swiftly to restore power, which was returned to the affected areas within a few hours.

The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.

There were no immediate reports of injuries related to the incident.
