Police recover firearm in Dorchester traffic stop

BOSTON — At about 8:01 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Kqualeke Simplisse, 20, of Everett, on firearm charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Harvard Street when they observed a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.

Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

After further investigation, officers recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle.

Once officers located the firearm, the suspect attempted to flee the scene.

Officers were quickly able to apprehend the suspect and placed him into handcuffs.

The firearm was later determined to be a Taurus G2S with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.

The operator was promptly released from the scene.

Simplisse was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
