NEW LONDON — A New London man was arrested after accidentally discharging a firearm in an apartment complex on Sunday evening, police said.
Officers were called to the scene at 221 Howard St., apt. 442, around 8:10 p.m. following reports of a gunshot.
Upon arrival, they discovered a bullet hole in a wall of the building’s common hallway.
The New London Police Department’s Investigative Services Division gathered evidence and canvassed the area.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
John Dustman, 23, was identified as the individual responsible for the accidental discharge of a rifle in his apartment, which resulted in a bullet penetrating the wall.
Dustman has been charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
He was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7.
