SHREWSBURY — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop on North Quinsigamond Avenue for an equipment violation at approximately 6:32 p.m. on April 28, according to the Shrewsbury Police Department.
Officer Juaire and Officer Carroll initiated the stop of a 2018 Honda Accord, during which they identified the driver, Wilkin Paulino, 19, of Worcester, who had an outstanding warrant.
Paulino was promptly taken into custody.
A search conducted during the stop revealed that the backseat passenger, Jefersson Oguis Fernandez, also 19 and from Worcester, was in possession of a black satchel containing a loaded Glock 26 handgun with an obliterated serial number and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Fernandez, who did not have a firearms license, was arrested on multiple firearm charges.
The additional officers who assisted in the arrest included Officer Ostiguy, Officer Anding, Detective Wester, and Sgt Caviston.
Fernandez faces charges for possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and possession of a large capacity firearm or magazine.
The Shrewsbury Police Department has not disclosed any further details about the warrant on which Paulino was arrested.
The investigation is ongoing.
