WARWICK — Warwick Police Chief David Shoemaker was hit twice by a motorist’s vehicle during a routine traffic stop, officials reported.

The confrontation occurred as Shoemaker was assisting Sgt. John Stewart on Saturday.

After the initial incident, the driver sped off northbound, leading officers on a high-speed chase.

Due to escalating safety concerns, law enforcement ended their pursuit as the suspect continued toward Hinsdale.

Upon reaching Hinsdale, the suspect allegedly attempted to ram Sgt. Stewart’s police cruiser and fled the scene.

The pursuit came to a halt when the suspect’s vehicle crashed near the Hinsdale school.

A female passenger was detained at the crash site, while the male driver escaped on foot.

Authorities immediately enlisted the help of a K9 unit and a drone to locate the man.

The abandoned vehicle was secured and is set to be examined by New Hampshire agencies as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
