Person shot in New Haven, police surround house with rifles

NEW HAVEN — A person was shot on Richmond Avenue in New Haven on May 19, prompting a significant police response, authorities said.

The New Haven Police Department reported that officers arrived on the scene in the 20 block of Richmond Ave at approximately 4:15 p.m. to find a gunshot wound (GSW) victim.

Following the shooting, police surrounded a house in the area with rifles drawn, as part of their investigation and response to the incident.

Officials have not released the identity of the victim or the condition they are in.

It is also unclear if anyone has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting or if there is any ongoing threat to the public.
