STAMFORD — A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a car on the evening of May 17 claimed the life of a 17-year-old Stamford resident, according to the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:13 p.m. at the intersection of Lockwood Ave. and William St. A 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by the teenage victim heading northbound on Lockwood Ave., was struck by a 2011 Toyota Corolla traveling southbound as it attempted to make a left turn onto William St.
Despite efforts to avoid the collision, the motorcycle could not stop in time and hit the front end of the Toyota.
The young motorcyclist was rushed to Stamford Hospital, where emergency department staff conducted life-saving measures.
However, the teen was ultimately pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities have chosen not to release the name of the deceased due to the individual’s age.
The 58-year-old driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Investigators Sgt. Ryan McAllister and Ofc. Lindsey Yanicky are leading the inquiry into the crash.
