WESTBROOK — A serious motor vehicle crash late Thursday night on Warren Avenue has resulted in severe injuries to a pedestrian and felony charges for the driver, Westbrook Police Department reported.
At about 9:30 p.m., Westbrook Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene of the crash.
Officials discovered that a single vehicle had veered off the road and struck a pedestrian.
The force of the collision propelled the pedestrian over the guardrail, while the vehicle continued to crash into the guardrail, causing it to slice through much of the car.
Both the driver and the pedestrian were transported to a local hospital.
The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, sustained very serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
The driver, identified as Racheal Delcourt, 35, of Limington, has been charged with three felony offenses including OUI (operating under the influence) resulting in injury, reckless conduct, and aggravated driving to endanger.
The Westbrook Police Department is continuing its investigation into the crash, and further charges against Delcourt may be pending as additional evidence comes to light.
