WORCESTER — A woman was taken into custody Wednesday morning after allegedly committing an armed robbery at a Family Dollar store on Main Street.
According to the Worcester Police Department, officers responded to a call at approximately 9:09 a.m. about a shoplifting incident.
A store employee reported that he witnessed a woman concealing several shampoo bottles in her clothing.
When he approached her outside the store, he noticed she was holding a knife, prompting him to retreat.
Police located a woman shortly afterward who matched the description given by the employee.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Monique Heard, peacefully handed over the stolen items upon being stopped.
Heard was arrested and has been charged with armed robbery.
