HINSDALE — An injured hiker was successfully rescued from Pisgah State Park on Tuesday after suffering a leg injury, authorities said.
Victoria Gassett, 24, of Hinsdale, was hiking the John Summers Trail around 1:50 p.m. when she injured her lower right leg.
Her brother, who was accompanying her, promptly called for help.
Conservation officers from the NH Fish and Game Department responded to the scene.
Gassett was carefully placed into a litter and carried to the Kilburn Loop Trail, where a Hinsdale Fire Department UTV awaited.
She was then transported to the trailhead, arriving at about 4:10 p.m.
From there, Gassett was transferred to a Rescue Inc. ambulance and taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
Multiple agencies assisted in the rescue operation, including the Hinsdale Fire Department, Hinsdale Police Department, Cheshire County Sheriff’s Department, and the Southwestern New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid.
The coordinated effort ensured Gassett’s swift and safe extraction from the park.
