BOSTON — A traffic stop in Roxbury on Sunday evening led to the arrest of a Boston man on multiple firearm and drug trafficking charges, authorities said.
At about 6:42 p.m., officers from the Boston Police Department assigned to District B-2 observed a vehicle speeding along Warren Street.
They initiated a stop using their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens near the intersection of Warren and Waverly streets.
Upon contact, the driver, identified as 26-year-old Brevin Dossantos of Mattapan, informed officers that his license was expired.
Further checks revealed that his license was also suspended.
Officers asked Dossantos to step out of the vehicle and attempted to conduct a frisk, which led to Dossantos actively resisting.
A struggle ensued, during which officers detected what they suspected to be a firearm in his pants.
With backup arriving, officers were able to restrain Dossantos and place him in handcuffs.
A search yielded multiple bags of what appeared to be crack cocaine and fentanyl, as well as roughly $1,240 in cash.
The retrieved firearm was a Springfield Armory XD-9 with sixteen rounds in the magazine.
The substances were later weighed, with the crack cocaine totaling approximately 21 grams and the fentanyl around 16 grams.
Dossantos faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, trafficking of class A and B substances, resisting arrest, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
He is slated for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
