Rhode Island police make multiple arrests for child solicitation, larceny, and fraud

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island law enforcement officials have reported several arrests following investigations into crimes ranging from child solicitation to insurance fraud.

On May 3, members of the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Giuliano Melendez, 22, for indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.

Melendez, a Johnston resident, was processed at State Police Headquarters and later appeared before Third District Court where Justice Lafazia set his bail at $5,000 with surety.

Conditions of the bail include a no contact order with the victim, no unsupervised contact with minors, and limited internet use.

In a separate case on the same day, Andreade Jackson, 36, of Central Falls, was arrested by members of the Auto Theft and Intelligence Units, the Violent Fugitive Task Force, and the Lincoln Barracks.

Jackson faces charges of fraudulent insurance claims related to a stolen vehicle, larceny over $1,500, and conspiracy.

He was arraigned and released pending a future court date.

On May 4, the Gaming Enforcement Unit reported two arrests.

David Henri, 50, from Foxboro, Massachusetts, was arrested on an affidavit/arrest warrant for larceny under $1,500.

Henri was arraigned and released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

Additionally, Richard Henault, 60, of Coventry, was taken into custody on an affidavit/arrest warrant for larceny under $1,500, access to a computer for fraudulent purposes, and obtaining property by false pretenses or impersonation.

Henault was also arraigned and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
