NORTH HAMPTON — A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 southbound caused significant guardrail damage and led to a lane closure early May 4.
New Hampshire State Police Troop A barracks received a call about the accident near the Hampton Toll Plaza at approximately 12:15 a.m.
Troopers who arrived at the scene discovered a Ford Super Duty pickup truck, towing a car trailer, had collided with the median guardrail, causing obstruction and debris across both northbound and southbound lanes.
The driver, Sheila Carpio, 37, of Brandon, Florida, was found to have a suspended license.
The truck’s owner, Jacob Rivera, 29, of Tampa, Florida, was a passenger at the time of the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved.
Carpio was charged with operating after suspension and negligent driving.
The southbound high-speed lane was closed for about three hours while cleanup crews and emergency services, including the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and National Wrecker Service, worked to clear the roadway.
Authorities are still investigating the crash but suspect that fatigue and inexperience may have played roles.
