WEST SPRINGFIELD — Two men were arrested Tuesday evening on drug charges and for possession of a stolen motor vehicle after being apprehended by West Springfield Police Department.

Jamie Rodriguez-Lopez, 28, of Springfield, was arrested on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle and possession of a Class A drug (Heroin).

Jorge Gomez-Rodriguez, 34, also of Springfield, faces charges of possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug (Heroin) and three counts of possession of a Class B drug (Cocaine, Percocet, Oxycodone).

Officers received a report of a stolen vehicle headed westbound on Memorial Avenue around 6:45 p.m. on May 2.

The vehicle was later found unoccupied in the Price Rite parking lot.

Rodriguez-Lopez and Gomez-Rodriguez approached the vehicle shortly after, with Rodriguez-Lopez attempting to use the keys to enter the driver’s side.

A felony car stop was initiated, and Gomez-Rodriguez, who was carrying a shoulder bag, resisted briefly before being subdued.

The bag was found to contain a knife, 6 grams of cocaine, two pills of oxycodone, one pill of Percocet, and 20 bags of heroin stamped with “HBO.”

In addition, officers discovered $870 and a silver duct-taped block containing 600 bags of heroin also stamped with “HEATS.”

Rodriguez-Lopez, who has distinct facial tattoos, was taken into custody after being found with two bags of heroin marked “HEATS” in his wallet.

Both men were taken into custody without further incident, according to police reports.
