PROVIDENCE — In a series of coordinated arrests on May 2, law enforcement agencies across Rhode Island took several individuals into custody on a variety of charges ranging from felony larceny to drug trafficking and firearm violations.
Yahir Rodriguez, 20, of Providence, was arrested by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force on five counts each of felony larceny and felony conspiracy, as well as two counts of tampering with vehicles.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Warwick Police Department.
Rodriguez was apprehended without incident and handed over to the Providence Police Department.
Simultaneously, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force made several arrests.
Kejuan Mitchell, 31, also of Providence, faces a multitude of charges including possession with intent to deliver over 1 kilogram each of fentanyl and cocaine, as well as methamphetamine.
Additionally, he is charged with firearm violations and obstruction of an officer.
Mitchell was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and held at the ACI Intake Center, awaiting arraignment in Sixth District Court.
Edison Kelly Lopez, 30, and Catalino Lopez, 47, both from North Providence, were similarly charged by the HIDTA Task Force with drug trafficking offenses, including possession with intent to deliver large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine.
Both men were processed and held pending their arraignments.
Nicholas Oliveira, 34, of East Greenwich was arrested by the Violent Fugitive Task Force on a Superior Court bench warrant for failure to appear at trial on an original charge of second-degree child molestation.
Oliveira was processed and transferred to the Providence Superior Court officials.
Joel Kennedy, 36, and Andres Campbell, 33, both residing at the same address on Douglas Avenue in Providence, along with Hamlet Lopez, 33, from Johnston, were arrested on similar charges as Mitchell, including possession with intent to deliver and firearm-related offenses.
These individuals also awaited arraignment after a night at the ACI Intake Center.
