String of car burglaries hits Old Orchard Beach, police seek public assistance

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Police Department is investigating a recent wave of motor vehicle burglaries across the town, officials announced Friday.

Over the past several days, officers have responded to a series of thefts involving vehicles that were left unlocked.

Affected areas include Temple Ave, Hope Terrace, Old Orchard Road, Melvin Ave, Jameson Woods Condos, and Central Park Ave.

The police are urging residents with security cameras that cover these locations to review footage and report any suspicious activity captured during the nighttime over the past week.

Residents who may have relevant video evidence or information are encouraged to contact Detective Sheahan at [email protected], reach out via the department’s Facebook page, or call 207-934-4911 to file a report.

The department is reminding the community of the importance of the “9PM routine” — locking all vehicle doors at night.

Thieves commonly target unlocked vehicles, often attempting to access every car in a neighborhood.

The best prevention against these crimes is to remove valuables, ensure vehicles are locked, and take the keys inside residences.
