BETHEL — A string of alleged crimes involving vehicle theft and reckless endangerment has led Vermont State Police on a pursuit through multiple towns, now culminating in a statewide search for suspect Branden J.
Messier. On April 29, a resident reported his black GMC Sierra, registration 126A490, stolen from his Gage Road home in Bethel.
The following day, multiple sources identified Messier, born Aug. 24, 1992, as the alleged thief.
Vermont State Police Royalton troopers located the stolen vehicle at a Randolph residence on April 30.
When authorities attempted to recover the truck, Messier fled, leading troopers on a chase through downtown Randolph and onto the railroad tracks.
The pursuit continued as a citizen later spotted the GMC Sierra at an abandoned property in Braintree.
Troopers responded but were unable to apprehend Messier as he once again managed to elude them.
Messier is now facing multiple charges, including aggravated operation without owner’s consent, eluding a police officer, gross negligent operation, reckless endangerment, and possession of stolen property.
VSP Royalton is actively seeking information regarding Messier’s whereabouts and the location of the stolen vehicle.
