Lyndonville man faces DUI, assault charges after traffic stop

LYNDONVILLE — A traffic stop on East Burke Road led to an arrest for multiple offenses including DUI and assault on law enforcement, according to the Lyndonville Police Department.

On April 26, at approximately 5:41 p.m., a Lyndonville patrol officer observed a motorist committing vehicle violations and proceeded to stop the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Leland Ray Wesson of Pittsburgh, PA, showed signs of impairment during the encounter.

When law enforcement attempted to take Wesson into custody, he reportedly became combative, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

Wesson also attempted to elude the officer before being apprehended.

Following the arrest, Wesson was processed, and his vehicle was towed by B&B Towing.

Wesson is scheduled for arraignment on the charges in Caledonia Superior Court on May 13, at 8:30 a.m.

The Lyndonville Police Department was assisted by the Vermont State Police during the incident.
