CHICOPEE — A Chicopee man was sentenced to 12-13 years in state prison on April 23 after being found guilty of multiple counts of child rape and indecent assault and battery.
Kenneth Arroyo, 41, will also face three years of probation following his prison term, according to the sentencing handed down by a Superior Court Judge.
The guilty findings on April 9 included two counts of aggravated rape of a child, two counts of indecent assault and battery over 14, and two counts of indecent assault and battery under 14.
The charges were the result of an investigation by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Special Victims Unit in collaboration with the Chicopee Police Department.
The victims in the case, two children who were known to Arroyo, were between the ages of 10 and 15 at the time of the abuse.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni emphasized the severity of the crimes and the commitment to protecting children in the community. “Acts of violence on children will be met with our most diligent efforts and the full force of the law,” Gulluni stated.
He expressed gratitude towards the Chicopee Police Department, crediting Detective Matthew Costa and retired Springfield Police Detective Eugene Dean, along with Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Vasiliades and the members of the Special Victims Unit for their work on the case.
