BOSTON — Four men were arrested Wednesday afternoon after Boston Police officers intercepted their operation of selling stolen Apple products in the Brighton neighborhood.
At about 3:43 p.m., officers from the Drug Control Unit of District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) took Ahmadou Sow, 31, Amady Dioum, 24, Ibra Sow, 29, and Dioum Cheikhouna, 21, all from New York City, into custody.
The arrests occurred after officers, while patrolling near 21 Farrington Street, noticed suspicious activity involving the exchange of a small white box for US currency.
Further surveillance led to the discovery of additional exchanges involving similar white boxes on Brighton Avenue.
Upon stopping one individual, officers recovered multiple Apple products still in their packaging.
The subsequent apprehension of the suspects resulted in similar recoveries, with one suspect attempting to sell directly to the undercover officers and another admitting the items were stolen from New York City.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had acquired the stolen goods in New York and traveled by train to Boston with the intent to sell and then return.
In total, police seized 83 Apple AirPods Pro, 7 Apple AirPods Max, and 3 Apple Watches Ultra Two, with an estimated combined value of $12,000.
Approximately $704 in cash was also recovered.
All four suspects face charges of receiving stolen property over $1,200.
Ibra Sow received an additional charge for furnishing false identification to a police officer, while Dioum and Cheikhouna also face charges of resisting arrest.
They are scheduled for arraignment in Brighton District Court.
