BOSTON — Boston police on Wednesday arrested two men and seized a large cache of drugs and firearms during a raid in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood.
At about 2:18 p.m., members of the Drug Control Unit of District C-11 arrested Darnell Gibbs, 27, and Luis Malave, 26, both of Dorchester, on multiple firearm and drug charges following an ongoing drug investigation.
Officers executing search warrants at 4 Columbia Terrace discovered a Springfield Armory firearm with a defaced serial number, equipped with a laser sight and a high-capacity magazine containing six rounds, and a Girsan Regard MC with 18 rounds in the magazine.
Other items recovered included 15 liquid THC cartridges, 51 THC vaporizers, various pills, five pounds of marijuana, 35 grams of cocaine, 85 rounds of ammunition, an electric money counter, a heat sealer, a digital scale, assorted packaging materials, approximately $109,804 in U.S. currency, and a ballistic vest.
Gibbs faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, improper storage of a firearm, trafficking, and possession with intent to distribute both class B and class D substances.
Malave has been charged with trafficking class B, possession with intent to distribute class D, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Both men are set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
